Way Back in the Beginning

The planes were fabric over wood, the decks were wooden, and the arresting gear was a series of ropes tied to sandbags. And that was only eighty-four years ago. Steeljaw Scribe has a nice write-up on the historic milestone of the first arrested landing of an aircraft aboard a “carrier.”
