24 – Day 2 of the Premier

by Steve on January 15, 2007

There is something sadly disturbing about a hugely popular TV show depicting what this country potentially faces should our enemies successfully import their favorite brand of violence. Domestic terrorism selling top dollar advertising slots – quite the conundrum. Hey, maybe the democrats will watch.

Never seen the show but the popularity of 24 and several shows that carry a similar MO (The Unit is one I think) and that is the way Jack operates is the way most Americans want our forces, both seen and unseen, to operate. Strickly on a non-PC, no holds barred, in your face, kick ass attitude. They’re there to protect themselves, their buddies, their families, and their country – pretty much in that order. Whatever it takes to accomplish the mission.

Yea, but people are watching it just because its got action, sex and suspense, they don’t want to associate it with reality, just entertainment.

Sad, isn’t it.
