Air Travel

by Steve on August 28, 2008

Normally we fly Delta to Maine with a stop in Cincinnati or Atlanta. This year, with fares considerably higher, I opted for US Air with stops in Charlotte and NY LaGuardia for the lower fare. Thanks to a runway incursion on short final at NY we got a bonus lap around Manhattan and missed the outbound leg. Running out of options that didn’t involve “tomorrow” we snagged a flight into Portland and piled in a van with nine others that US Air stranded. Two hours later we picked up a rental car in Bangor (luxury compact?) and with eyes trained on the shoulders for Moose, headed up 95 into the darkness of the North Woods.

Lesson re-learned: pay the money for the one-stop hop via ATL or CVG.

Philadelphia on the return trip.  From the cockpit: “Feel free to turn on your electronic devices including cell phones.  We’ll let you know when you need to shut them down.”  Translation – we’re not going anywhere for a while.

I enjoy your website and check it periodically. However, we want more Moose!

He didn’t get to go or you would have plenty of material to choose from. He’s been working on some stuff! Patience, grasshopper.
